Tiers 7 and 8 are our entry level swim team groups. We introduce swimmers to competitive swimming, focus on drills, skills, stroke technique, and developing all four competitive strokes, diving, flip turns, intervals, and the love of swimming. Swim meets are optional. Our main goal is to keep our developmental swimmers enthusiastic, swimming year-round, and constantly improving.
Tiers 1 and 2 are comprised of our Sectional, Junior National, and National qualifiers. These swimmers understand and value technique and hard work. This group has the highest level of time and energy commitment. This group is the highest intensity, highest technical refinement, and highest commitment. Many swimmers in this group have plans to swim in college.
Tiers 5 and 6 are our intermediate swim team groups. Swimmers are encouraged to attend practice regularly and participate in swim meets. Stroke technique, developing an aerobic base, racing skills, and achieving USA Swimming's BB times are major emphasis points. Swimmers may still be involved in other sports and extracurricular activities but are beginning to call swimming "their sport."
Tiers 3 and 4 are our advanced swim team groups. Swimmers are usually at the USA Swimming A and AA level for their age group. Stroke technique is still strongly emphasized among all of the other competitive skills. This group is high intensity, high quality, and high commitment. Swimmers in this group are very committed, attend almost all available practice sessions, and call swimming their sport.
