-50,000 Second Goal For 2018-2019
In the competitive swimming world, each new season begins in mid- to late- August and ends in late-July to early-August. There is usually a mid-season peak meet in February or March. From August to February is known as the "short course" part of the season and March to July is known as the "long course" part.
This season we are putting the entire Sigma Swim Team to a challenge - a 50,000 second challenge! Our challenge to Sigma Swim Team members is to drop 50,000 seconds as a team from October through July.
Here are our current stats:
311 swim team members
10 months from October 2018 through July 2019
1 swim meet offered each month for 10 total meets for your child to contribute to our 50,000 second challenge
How to contribute:
Swim 7 meets between October 2018 and July 2019
Swim 4 events per meet (Usually, 1 day of the meet. Most meets are 2-3 days)
Drop 3-8 seconds per event each time it is swum.
Try to swim the longer events (200s, 400 IM, 500 Free) because there is greater room for time drops
If each of our 311 Sigma Swim Team members goes to 7 meets in the next 10 months and swims a minimum of 4 events per meet, that is a total of 8,708 events swum. If we can average 5.72 seconds dropped per event swum, we will achieve our goal of 50,000 seconds dropped.
The coaches will calculate our improvement following each swim meet and keep a running total throughout the year. Any swim that is better than your best helps us reach our goal. Everyone can contribute and be an impact player. In fact, our Tier 6-8 swimmers could be the biggest contributors because they can improve the most.
What happens if we drop 50,000 seconds?? The coaches will come together to determine the best way to celebrate and reward their swimmers and our team. Let's first get signed up for some meets and let the time drops begin! CLICK HERE to sign up for our first set of meets!
