Make Time For Swimming This Fall
Just like summer goes hand-in-hand with swimming, we at Sigma associate fall, winter, and spring with swimming. Swimming is a year-round endeavor for us. Improving as a swimmer, from swim lessons through all levels of swim team, is an ongoing process.
This ongoing process helps younger swimmers remember the skills they have learned rather than having to relearn the majority of them each summer. It's amazing how we can forget the simplest tasks when we do not do them on a somewhat regular basis. The same is true for swimming. For swimming, this is especially true since we spend most of our time on our two feet walking on land rather than swimming in water.
When you make swimming a regular part of your child's life, you ensure:
Safety - A child (or adult) who is regularly practicing and improving his/her swimming skills will be better able to thrive in the water summer, spring, winter, fall.
Progress - Instead of taking four steps forward in the summer and three steps back during the fall, winter, and spring, a child (or adult) can continue his/her growth and development. By summer of next year, the skills learned throughout the year will ensure that your child (or you) will be much more prepared for any water scenario.
Health - We have read and heard about the health benefits of swimming. Take a look at the 8 Reasons Why Swimming Is The Healthiest Form Of Exercise. Swimming year-round is great for the mind and body. It burns off excess energy, helps release positive feeling endorphins, develops coordination skills, builds fitness and stamina, and is one of the safest health activities.
When you're planning your schedule for the fall, consider making swimming part of it. Your swimming commitment doesn't have to be one that consumes all of your time and energy. It can be balanced with other activities and scheduled with your site coordinator to be efficient and sensitive to your other commitments. Speak with your site coordinator to reserve your space for the fall.
