Sigma Featured Swimmer Of The Week
Joaquin Castillo is a 10-year-old swimmer at Sigma Swim Fort Worth North (TCCNW) location under Coaches Gia and Tariq. He attends Sendera Elementary School in Fort Worth.
Q: When and why did you decide to become a swimmer?
A: I started swimming because my Mom made me, and I was happy about it.
Q: Do you have any swimmers that inspire you most and why?
A: My cousin Ori. She used to swim for her country and now she got a scholarship to a college in Florida.
Q: Are there any lessons you have learned, other than swimming, since you became a swimmer?
A: How to listen better.
Q: Do you have any family members that are involved in the sport of swimming?
A: My cousin Ori is the best swimmer, she's been swimming since the age of 10 just like me. I hope I can be as good as her, or better...
Q: What do you think makes great sportsmanship and why?
A: To be a team player and know that winning is not everything.
Q: Are there any other sports that you are involved in?
A: As of right now swimming is my only sport.
Q: What is your favorite and least favorite stroke and why?
A: My favorite stroke is freestyle because it’s easier and my least favorite is breaststroke because it's hard to swim like a frog.
Q: Who pushes you the hardest to perform your best?
A: My Mom and Dad always push me to do my best and to always listen to my coaches.
Q: What do you like to do when you are not swimming?
A: When I'm not swimming I like to watch TV play Nintendo or read Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.
Q: What are your goals for the future in swimming?
A: My goals are to be a great swimmer and to get a scholarship.
