Sigma Featured Swimmer Of The Week
Katie that swims at our Sigma Burleson Brick under Coach Wendy. She attends Arlington Heights High School.
Q: How and when did you decide to become a swimmer?
A: My grandparents have a pool and I loved to swim in it all the time and so that sparked my parents to put me in swim lessons and I haven’t stopped since.
Q: What does the sport of swimming mean to you and what would you say if you were told that you can’t swim anymore?
A: It’s a passion and a drive that’s hard to quit. Swimming is something you never forget and once you start again you’ll fall in love with it.
Q: Who is your biggest supporter?
A: My best friend Lexi and my parents.
Q: Are there any athletes that inspire you the most and why?
A: I love Lily King and how she acts so confident all the time. She puts in all the work and effort to act as confident as she is.
Q: Did you ever swim an event at meet that you did not like and how did you handle it?
A: The 500. I’m thinking it’s only going to take me a short amount of time and then I’m done and don’t have to swim it again for a while.
Q: How has swimming impacted your social life and how do you deal with it?
A: It’s made it hard to make plans during the week, but my friends understand that swimming is my passion.
Q: What is your favorite and least event at a swim meet?
A: 200 breast is my favorite and 100 fly is my least favorite.
Q: Are there any lessons you have learned, other than swimming, since you became a swimmer?
A: That practice really does make perfect and patient really is key.
Q: What do you like to do outside of swimming?
A: I really enjoy photography.
Q: What are you dreams or goals for the future in swimming?
A: To be able to swim in college.
