Q: How and why did you decide to become a swimmer?
A: I started at a swim school and realized I really liked the sport once I started competing, I was hooked.
Q: Do you have any family members that are involved in the sport of swimming?
A: I have two cousins Lauren and Allison who were both accomplished swimmers throughout High School.
Q: What would you say is your favorite and least favorite event at swim meets and why?
A: Favorite has to be Butterfly, this is an event I love to swim, and I am usually in this event. I have always struggled with my breast stroke, it also seems to take the longest when you are waiting for your event.
Q: How do you prepare for a swim meet and what do you eat before and during a swim meet?
A: Usually I have a light swim practice the night before and carb load. Usually pasta. That evening. At the swim meet, saltines crackers, bananas and almonds.
Q: How do you stay motivated especially after a disappointing race?
A: Focus on the next event or on what I need to change or improve on for the next meet.
Q: Are there any other sports that you participate in and why?
A: I have played football and soccer but the sport I take as seriously as swimming is Kyokusin Karate. I have been studying and practicing this sport since I was 5. Karate and Swimming complement each other nicely.
Q: Who encourages you the most to perform your best?
A: Coach Jill! And of course, Mom and Dad.
Q: What do you like to do if you are not swimming?
A: Currently swimming takes most of my time after school most of the week. When I do find time, I like to read and of course watch TV.
Q: Have you thought about what your goals are for the future in swimming?
A: Short Term goal is getting my first A time. Longer term goal is Eaton swim team.
