Sigma Stretching, Strength, and Conditioning for Swimmers
What your swimmer does in the water is the most important factor to his/her success. However, there are multiple activities that your swimmer can be doing outside of the water to prevent injuries and increase performance in the water.
We offer a uniquely designed program to help swimmers feel better, minimize injuries, and perform better. Sigma Swimming’s Stretching, Strength, and Conditioning (SSC) Program ensures that swimmers are doing the right things out of the water to be better swimmers and healthy individuals.
Sigma Swimming SSC Program takes the swimmer’s age, current swimming ability, swimming goals, and pre-existing conditions in to account to create a program that the swimmer completes on his/her own time individually or with a family member.
Workouts are emailed weekly and swimmers have an open line of communication with our Sigma Swim SSC Program Coordinator Wendy. Athletes have flexibility, strength, and fitness goals that are tailored to make them better both on land and in the water. Their strokes improve because they are more flexible, coordinated, strong, and resilient.
A quick summary of Sigma Swimming’s SSC Program:
Eligible swimmers: Tiers 1-9
Can start at any time
Total body flexibility and mobility
Injury prevention in areas of the body that swimmers tend to overuse (shoulders, hip flexors, groin, knees)
Age-appropriate strength development
Functional strength training that applies to directly to swimmers and the 4 strokes
Functional strength training that also helps other activities not swimming related
Conditioning that improves the overall fitness of the swimmer for both land and water
For higher level swimmers, workouts will be designed around the season’s swim meets with rest and taper periods built in
