Sophie Dupre is a 7-year-old swimmer that swims at Sigma Swim’s Cleburne location and swims under Coach Amber.
Q: Why did you decide to become swimmer?
A: I began with summer swim lessons at Splash Station. I loved it so much that I wanted to join Sigma when I learned they had a Cleburne swim team.
Q: Are there any swimmers that inspire and why?
A: I am inspired by other Cleburne Sigma swimmers. Rene Wisenbaker, Julie Hall, Matthew Harman, and Clarice Hunsinker all work hard and are so nice. They're really fast swimmers, and I want to learn how to do that.
Q: Who encourages the most?
A: Coach Amber encourages me. Whenever I get something wrong she tells me I can do it.
Q: What is your favorite and least favorite stroke and why?
A: My favorite stroke is the butterfly because I like the way your arms move. My least favorite stroke is freestyle because we do it every day and it's starting to get old.
Q: How many hours a week do you practice per week?
A: I practice swimming three hours a week.
Q: What do you like to do when you are not swimming?
A: When I'm not swimming I like to play with my three little sisters, practice the guitar, and read.
Q: Have you learned anything else other than swimming from your swim lessons?
A: When I was learning how to streamline, my legs kept bending and I didn't know how to do the undulations, but I kept trying and eventually learned. Swim has taught me how to stick with something hard and not give up.
Q: What do you like most about swimming?
A: I like seeing my friends at swim and Coach Amber.
Q: Do you have any future swimming goals?
A: I would like to start swimming in swim meets now that I've learned the competitive strokes.
